It's a...

BOY!!

It's funny-- Even though the doc had said she was 90-95% sure 5 weeks ago, I felt so uncertain about this morning's ultrasound. A confession? I really hoped that it would be a boy. Of course, what I wanted was a healthy baby, but if I had my choice between a healthy boy or a healthy girl, I'd take the boy. I grew up with an older brother, so I had this idea in my head that a boy should come first in our family. I wanted a little boy that Rob could share his love of sports & what little boy doesn't love his mommy? I am thrilled to announce that in September, we'll welcome a son. We couldn't be happier.

Everything today looked great! I measured at 18w1d and Baby Boy Blakely is growing just as he should be. Our 20 minute ultrasound was given to us on dvd and we've already watched it twice tonight-- He rolls over, kicks his legs, swallows, sucks his thumb, crosses his legs & arms and yawns. The ultrasound tech points out his stomach, kidneys, bladder, spine, brain, heart chambers, fingers, toes, etc. Everything looked perfect. The dvd is in a format that's not compatible with the blog, so I'll work on converting it this weekend to post a version of the highlights here.

In the meantime, here are some pictures!

Baby's profile with his mouth open-- pic was taken as he was sucking & swallowing.

Arms crossed in front of his face.

Little legs.

Obligatory "boy" shot-- Don't worry, he does have a right leg! He was rolling over as she caught this shot.

We celebrated by going to dinner tonight and doing (what else?!) more shopping. It was a great day!!
