Someone To Watch Over Me

How awesome is it to have a husband that truly takes care of you?
Pretty. Freaking. Awesome.

This post is long overdue. Sweet Rob has become quite the caretaker over the past 6 weeks. He has always helped around the house, often doing more than I do because of my job, but he's gone above and beyond since finding out I'm pregnant. Not only has he fetched my every craving (Breadsticks! Smoothies! Pickles!) but he also has kept our house spic & span-- doing the dishes, washing the sheets and just generally cleaning up after me. He's never once complained about my lack of cooking (I haven't made us a meal in over a month & haven't even considered grocery shopping...) or my constant sleeping (Nap from 5:30-7pm, then off to bed by 9:30pm). He tucks me in every single night (often laying down with me until I start to doze), even though he stays up for hours after I go to sleep.

And don't get me started on the cuteness... When we lie awake in bed, he still says in awe, "Hon, we made a baby. After all of that trying... we finally made a baby..." He pretends to feel the baby when we both know all he's feeling is my bloated nine week belly and pretends he can hear the heartbeat when he presses his ear against it. He has a feeling it's a girl! I keep saying that the only feeling I have is nausea... (For what it's worth, the Chinese Gender Chart says girl and the fast heartbeat could suggest girl...)

Last night at 3:30am, I woke up and told him about a really bad dream I had-- he put his arms around me and said, "We're so lucky to have each other. I love you." Then, the icing on the cake? He didn't complain when I ate Oreos and milk in bed.

This love, patience, nurturing and kindness makes Rob one great husband. But more importantly, it will make him a great Daddy.

I can't wait.

  1. OMG how sweet is he?! I love hearing of husbands who "get it" with their pregnant wives. I hope you continue to have a blissful pregnancy!

  2. Oh that is so lovely.

I can totally understand why women who are having marriage problems think having a baby will solve the problems. Pregnancy and babies make men almost as gaga as women!

For the record, I think you are having a girl too. :)

  4. Good husbands are hard to find. Especially ones willing to pick up the slack when you can't or just don't feel like it!

  6. I hate to disappoint you, hon, but I'm pretty sure she meant lucky. Now, whether or not I'm a "licky" girl, well, that's something only you know... *wink*
